The idea for Date Night Decks™ was born from the very beginning of our love story. On our very first date, my partner and I used a couples card deck to break through the usual small talk and dive into meaningful, heartfelt conversation. That experience helped us connect on a deeper level and set the foundation for the powerful bond we share today. It showed us the magic that happens when you create space for emotional vulnerability and intentional curiosity. Years later, as our relationship evolved and deepened, we realized how rare and valuable that experience was—and how many couples, like us, could benefit from a tool that fosters real intimacy. That’s when we decided to create Actions Speak Louder.
OUR PROCESS
We began the design process with empathy at the center, guided by design thinking methodology and the accessible power of Canva. Drawing inspiration from our own journey, we also grounded the deck in relationship-centered principles from renowned psychologists, intimacy experts, and educators. We intentionally incorporated strategies from emotionally focused therapy, Gottman Method research, and Susan Bratton’s intimacy-building techniques.
We tested early prototypes with couples across spectrums of orientation, gender identity, neurodivergence, and relationship structure. These generous conversations helped us refine everything—from the tone of the questions to the pacing of vulnerability across the deck. We wanted everyone using these cards to feel safe, affirmed, and empowered to connect in their own way.
Our website was built using WordPress, and launched on the Amazon platform to offer our deck to world, a major milestone for our small but mighty brand. What started at our kitchen table became Date Night Decks™, a business created by two people who believe that love, when nurtured with care and curiosity, can be revolutionary. We are proud to offer Actions Speak Louder as a tool for all couples to build not just better communication, but deeper intimacy, safety, and radical joy.
